STC's 54lbs/min (551cfm) Subaru turbocharger nicknamed "Banshee" was originally developed in 2014 as a test platform for the Subaru market for those that were looking for the massive torque and responsiveness of Cusco’s Time Attack EJ257 car in a “stock location” styled configuration for the masses. As always, it uses a genuine Garrett GT series silicon-ceramic hybrid duall-ball bearing system based upon the GT30R Family.
The new Banshee is now not only available in the stock location Subaru WRX/STI platform, but has been made to work in a universal compressor/turbine housing configuration as of 2017.
This unit is based upon Garrett’s GT /GTX Ballistic-ball bearing series of turbochargers but with more refinement than what the normal GTX series would normally be able to offer.
Using STC’s 6 splitter-blade configuration based upon the successful Garrett TR30R Rally Edition turbocharger, the “Banshee” is a “Street Attack” & road-race oriented turbocharger that uses the same GT Center Housing Rotating Assembly (CHRA) as the GT3071RR and GTX3067R, and comes in ball-bearing configuration only. So, you get the massive torque and power within the RPM range in a smaller compact package than the GT30 –R series.
This unit is a direct bolt-on to the Subaru WRX /STI from 2004-2007 model years and 2015 model year. The 2008-2011 will also fit although it may require some slight modification to the engine bay.
The assembly comes with a GoFastBits internal gate (.8Bar) 11.76psi internal spring that has a preload setting option in the actuator rod, but can be easily replaced with either a Garrett Internal Wastegate or a Turbosmart internal gate (recommended). You can also replace the stock Go-Fast bits with the Turbosmart IWG75 (part number TS-0605-5072 ) as an upgrade.
The best results have been shown by using an external wastegate off of the up-pipe for better response characteristics and top end power.

It Is not recommended to use flange-styled restrictors, and to use the oil/water line kit. The use of flange-styled restrictors WILL destroy the turbocharger.
